A reports by the Wall Street Journal says that Google is now discussing acquiring a video-sharing startup which is likely going to be Firework — developed by California-based Loop Now Technologies.

Firework is a direct competitor to the Chinese giant TikTok. TikTok has been huge success in the tech world with more than 500 million users globally. On the other hand Firework has recently crossed over 3 million registered users across iOS and Android. (Long way to go)

Firework utilises the company’s pending Reveal technology to allow creators to make videos in both vertical and horizontal perspectives. This allows users to twist their phone even when a video is playing to watch it in detail.

Firework is already been valued at $100 million. Firework is backed by IDG Ventures, Lightspeed and GSR Ventures.

Weibo, China’s version of Twitter, has also expressed interest in acquiring Firework.
